OSEPO/Region 9 admission policy statements from March 2006

Memos from Region 9/OSEPO/former District One Superintendent from early March 2006 make explict many changes to the long-standing district admissions policies established by the old Community School Board. Some of the key changes include: that pre-K students no longer are automatically admitted to K, but must re-apply; in all oversubscribed schools, the Region would oversee a lottery, to include current pre-K students, which accords different levels of priority for admissions that do not accomodate district golas of diversity, keeping families together or continuity of education of our youngest children; that Region 9 officials considered the oversubscribed schools to be "districtwide programs" and all other schools to be "zoned," a clear misinterpretation of the 1/2 mile radius granted to any famly wanting to send a child to a school close to home. See CEC November Calendar meeting minutes for further discussion with Marty Barr of OSEPO on these points
